One of Dallas’ Best Races: SIX02 6K

If you’ve been following me, you’ve probably seem me working with SIX02 quite a bit. From hosting giveaways, styling sessions, and fitness events, it’s been a really fun partnership. All of this would eventually lead to the annual It’s Your Time 6K hosted at Klyde Warren Park.

If you’re new to the SIX02 brand, it’s a women’s fitness apparel company that is owned by Footlocker. Think Lady Foot Locker’s older sister. In their stores, you’ll find popular brands like Nike, Reebok, Adidas, Underarmour, Lorna Jane, Alala, and more. This New York based company found it’s way to Dallas only a couple of years ago with the opening of their stores. I had the pleasure of running their first annual 6K last year and knew I did NOT want to miss the next one. In my opinion, it is the best race for women in Dallas.

The race swag is legit.

Because the brand is female centric, it’s pretty much a women’s race. The run would start at Klyde Warren Park and go through Uptown, Turtle Creek, Katy Trail and end back at the park. Following the race is one seriously legit after party. They dubbed it the Sweaty to Ready salon and offer all runners beauty treatments after their run. Think make up treatments, hair treatments, massages, express manis and more.

This year, I had the pleasure of running the race with my friends AND got to see so many familiar faces. The blogger community is pretty small so it was such a great surprise. To start, it was a chilly morning, but it turned into a beautiful day. Last year’s weather was awful and SO cold so I was grateful for the sun. After a short interview, I volunteered to use a GoPro during the run and I can’t wait to see what the production team does with the footage.

Later, my friends and I made our way to the front for a quick warm up before the start of the race. I made a special playlist just for the race. I put on my gangsta rap and was ready to handle it.

The race course is very beautiful, but there are definitely some hidden inclines. I think we can all attest that the last hill was so hard. These little notes of encouragement along the trail are a great touch and so empowering to read.

Our race medals were SO cute.

Now, I totally have to give a shoutout to my friend Brittany. She is 5 months pregnant and made it a goal to finish a run. She is one of my fitness buds and I’m so proud of her for finishing the race. It’s truly inspirational!

After the race, everyone treated themselves to beauty touch ups and hot chocolate. There were some great local vendors there as well, including Barre Code Plano and Design District, Vita Coco, Buda Juice and Flywheel.

I also got to see some of my blogger friends. Love running into these ladies.

SIX02 did a great job again this year and added a few touches I thought really made this such a great event. It can only get better from here and I can’t wait to see what they have in store next year.

At the post race party, all photos shared on instagram and tagged with #SIX02MOMENT were printed and handed out. Such a cool thing to do. I know I got a few and learned they are also stickers!

With everything going on, I didn’t get a chance to partake in any beauty treatments this year. The lines were way to long and I had too much energy to stay still. I hope next year, they’ll expand the salon area to encompass more beauty techs. Three nails tech for hundreds of runners isn’t going to cut it. I think adding a waitlist app for each line would be cool too. Take a name and number and text the next person when their turn is up so people can continue to mingle and check out the vendors.

Side note: I love Questbars, but the Questbar table/people weren’t my favorite. Really? I HAVE to post a photo in order to get a bar? GTFO. I just got done running a race and the hanger kicked in. They got no love from me. I hope they rethink their strategy for next year. Their pushiness for social posts really put me off and held up a line for snacks unnecessarily.

Saturday morning was a success and I know we all can’t wait to come back again next year. I’m ready to mark my calendar when you are. Hope you’ll join me!
