A Foodie Favorite: Jimmy’s Food Store Serves Up Delicious Sandwiches

I’ve lived in East Dallas all my life and Jimmy’s Food Store is one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat. This unique Italian grocery store is a hidden gem that sits in a not-so-pretty part of East Dallas. However, it’s well worth the foodie adventure.

While you can shop for authentic meats, pastas, and wines for all of your Italian cravings, hit up the deli in the back and order one of their amazing sandwiches.

Here are a few of my favorites:

The Italian Beef is spicy and the meat is tender and juicy. There’s a type of au jus sauce that eventually makes that heavenly bread soggy and even more delicious.

The meatball sub is perfection. There’s nothing else that even comes close. This photo doesn’t do it any justice, but trust that the cheese is ooey and stringy and each bite is glorious. In each bite, you’ll get cheese, marinara, meatball, and peppers.dallasfoodblogger-jimmysfoodstore5

This was my first time have the Italian Stallion which is the ultimate cold cut sub for sandwich lovers. This thing was huge! I had such a hard time eating this. Ha!

Once you’ve ordered a sandwich, grab a bag of chips and head to the beverage side of the store and pick a drink to go with it. There’s a variety of cream sodas, sparkling drinks, and even beer you can consume in the door. There’s a dining room behind the deli if you want to grab a table. There’s also seating in the front of the store and the patio. If there’s still room for more, go ahead and ask for the cannoli. It’s well worth it.

FYI, the busiest time to go is during lunch and it usually takes about 10 minutes to make the sandwich. I prefer going for an early dinner and it’s usually not as busy. Jimmy’s is open Monday through Saturday and the deli closes everyday at 7pm. Come hungry and leave happy!
