The Ultimate Foodcation & Staycation at Four Seasons Las Colinas

Staycation Four Seasons Dallas

Staycations are my favorite way to escape for a weekend and take a mental break. Today, I’m sharing my wonderful staycation at the Four Seasons Resort and Club at Las Colinas. As much as I love to travel, it’s not always feasible. The boyfriend and I actually take quite a few staycations a year just to reset and/or treat our city like a new adventure. Plus, there’s something so awesome about diving headfirst into a pile of fluffy pillows.

The Four Seasons invited me for a wellness staycation to celebrate my birthday in January. I spent most of it checking out their incredible sports facility Fours Seasons Golf and Sports Club, but I also want to talk about all the fun stuff that made the stay even more phenomenal.

Before we even checked in, we were blown away by the coziness and welcoming vibe of the resort. Knowing they’ve gone under renovations and are still renovating different spaces, we were so impressed. It was warm, inviting, and gorgeous.

I was so surprised when we checked in and learned they put us in one of their villas that overlooks the golf course. We literally had to take a shuttle to our room because it was that far out. There are several properties that are sprinkled along the golf course. I couldn’t wait to see our room.

The Room

It was spacious and comfortable. Even the bathroom was large with his and her sinks, a glass shower, and a bath tub. After my workouts that morning and an acupuncture massage, I took a looooong bubble bath.

I also loved that we could walk out on our quaint patio. This would be such a dope place to stay during any of their golfing tournaments. They are hosting the Byron Nelson one last time this year, so it’s going to be best one yet.

Dinner at LAW Restaurant

Of course, no birthday celebration is complete without dinner at LAW. The concept focuses on foods that represent Land, Air, and Water. The theme is apparent throughout their meals and provides a wonderful variety of delicious foods.

Danny and I were drooling over these thick cuts of bacon. While the bacon itself was rich and melted in your mouth, we loved that Chef Johan paired it with the pickled onions. That cut of acidity and crunch took it to a whole new level. I’m drooling just thinking about this starter.

I also really liked this burrata salad. Danny isn’t a huge fan of mushrooms, but liked the dish and felt the mushrooms had a meaty texture he enjoyed.

The deviled eggs were perfect for sharing and played to the concept of land, air, and water. Each half was topped with either blue crab, herbs, or duck confit. So good.

My favorite was the tuna carpaccio. I loved the blood orange. Really nice burst with each bite. So light and so good.
For our main entree, we decided to go with seafood and ordered the seared scallops and jumbo prawns with roasted cauliflower and carrots for sides.  Knowing we had such an amazing spread for our appetizers, these were the perfect portions as the main course. Scallops were perfect and the jumbo prawns were huge! Comparable to lobster tails. I also love the attention that was given to the vegetables too. They were not after thoughts and I loved the carrots.

As if our dinner couldn’t get any better, they hit us with dessert. The table side s’mores were so delicious. Everything from the graham cracker and even the marshmallows are all made in house. And they torch it at the table, so it was a mini fire show we definitely enjoyed. The lava cake was also decadent, rich and creamy. Ugh… let me just swim in all that chocolate.

The hospitality was superb. I truly appreciated Chef Johan coming out often to check on us and ask us questions. I’m sure he’s super busy running this amazing restaurant and kitchen, so that extra effort didn’t go unnoticed.

Dinner was perfect and we rolled ourselves out (as elegantly as possible). Flowly dresses for the win!

Brunch Buffet of Dreams

The next morning, we had reservations for a late brunch date. Still full from the night before, we hit the gym, played from racquetball and walked around the resort to work up an appetite. Glad we did, because their brunch game is strong. Brunch was also in LAW. It looks so different during the day with it amazing tall windows and natural light.

I loveeeee their brunch buffet. There’s a traditional breakfast bar with someone to cook your eggs just the way you like it. So you can grab your typical staples like bacon, sausage, and Eggs Benedict.

You can also order fresh juices and lattes or if you feel like getting boozy, classic mimosas. Beyond traditional breakfast bites, their buffet also offers a waffle bar, sushi bar, raw seafood spread, soups, build-your-own charcuterie bar and more.

The best part hands down was semi-hidden dessert room. Danny and I walked passed it several times as we refilled our plates and never even noticed the room. After a triple take, I walked into a room of mini desserts and my jaw dropped.

The Hospitality

Having worked in a marketing role that focused on hospitality brands and in customer service, hospitality is so important to me. I remember a quote I heard once, ” People don’t go to restaurants for the food, the come back for the service.” I truly believe that and saw that everyone went above and beyond. Granted, the managers knew who I was, but the people I chatted with that had no idea I was a media guest were fantastic and so helpful. In passing conversations, it’s always great to hear employees loving their job. The service is outstanding and worth mentioning and applauding.

Final Takeaways

The Four Seasons Las Colinas has done a superb job in renovating and updating their resort over the passed few years. An easy assumption some may have is stuffy or old. However, their upgrades are fresh and modern while also  retaining that luxuriousness that the Four Seasons is all about.

Truly enjoyed my stay here and can’t wait to come back. It was the absolute best way to spend my birthday weekend. I

Is it bad that I get excited when I hear a vegan say they miss meat? lolol Hospitality is definitely key in getting my return business. People don’t go to restaurants for food anymore. They go back for the service.
