Restaurant Review: Fast and Furious in Addison

At first glance and after passing Fast and Furious in Addison a gazillion times, I never gave this place much consideration. The name and theme is cheesy and sounded like a place only dudes with car obsessions would go (true). But I was sorely missing out.

#1 Hawaiian Bowl

#1 Hawaiian Bowl

After a friend sent me a photo of one of their sushi bowls, my jaw dropped and I went to visit the next day. It’s down the street from work. The website is well-done albeit cheesy with its car metaphors, but I was excited. It smelled great.

Walking in, the place was packed. It’s a fast casual Hibachi-style restaurant. You can build your own Hibachi bowls, buy pre-made sushi or go the sushi bowl route. I ordered the #1 or the Hawaiian Bowl. I asked for half salmon and half tuna. It comes on a bed of veggies (avocado, bell peppers, cucumber, mango, lettuce) and rice with a yummy mayo sauce on top. The best part: it as only $10 and I had leftovers.

Gyoza

Gyoza or Fried Dumplings.

Over the next 3 weeks, I was back 3 more times. Needing a healthy-ish option, I loved the fresh veggies. My coworker tagged along and really liked their Hibachi and enjoyed the large portions. She ordered the shrimp with noodles. It comes with stir fried veggies and this delicious garlic sauce. She loved that they didn’t skimp on the shrimp either.fastandfurious-addison-dallasblogger-deepfriedfit1

I came back for their Chirashi bowl the next week. I love ordering the Chirashi bowl at any sushi restaurant. Usually it runs anywhere from $14 and up. This bowl was $11. Granted you only get three proteins (salmon, tuna and tilapia) compared to the usual variety, it’s still a deal and an awesome bowl.  It comes on a colorful bed of cabbage, spinach, sprouts avocado and some fish eggs on top… I was in heaven. It also comes with sauce (not pictured).

Also highly recommended are the jalapeno poppers and the chicken skewers. I personally liked the gyoza or fried dumplings. They were a bit on the cold side, but still pretty tasty. And I loved that the price wasn’t ridiculous. $2 for 5 pieces.

Fast and Furious has 3 locations: Addison, Irving, and Greenville (and Southwest). Many of my friends (all dudes) raved about this place. Guess, you really can’t judge a restaurant by it’s silly name.

Lots of great menu options. Highly recommend the bowls and is a great spot for lunch. Come early though. The place gets pretty busy.
