Virtual Sweat Date: Company rebrand, partnerships, and power of saying no

Oh my goodness! It’s been a minute since I was able to write one of these. If you’re new to the series, a virtual sweat date is just an easy way for me to catch up with you on my blog. IRL, instead of coffee dates or happy hours, I’m usually going on workout dates with friends. This is how I like to catch up with my favorite people! Sharing a life update and some exciting announcements.

I’ve taken the last few months to really buckle down and do work! As some of you know, I also run Dallas Fitness Ambassadors and wanted to be proactive rather than reactive going into 2018. With that being said, I’ve rebranded as Fitness Ambassadors and launched the new website. I’m SO in love and there’s an events calendar now. Finding a sweat date in Dallas just got 100000000x easier. I’m planning a ton of events this year in partnership with amazing companies like West Village and the Omni Hotel Dallas. I definitely want to plan more events in North Dallas and hopefully Fort Worth. Head over and let me know what you think!

…and because I’ve been so focused on Fitness Ambassadors, Deep Fried Fit took the backseat for a bit, but I’m definitely still active on Instagram. Don’t worry though! I’m refocusing and working on fresh new content for you guys. I decided to give myself grace and take it one day at a time to recharge my creative juices.

I’m beyond STOKED to say I’m continuing my partnership with MichelobULTRA. Last year was such a blast and I can’t wait to see what is in store this year. One of my favorite things is getting snaps of you guys drinking the beer and supporting me. It means so much! Seriously!

I am celebrating my golden birthday this month! 29 on the 29th! And to celebrate, I booked a 2 hour massage at Exhale Spa and I’m going to attempt to shut off my phone for the entire day. I can’t decide if I want Mike’s Chicken or Burger King as my indulgent meal because some days, I just want to be basic. With that said… how is January almost over already!?!?

There is power in the word NO. I caught myself feeling incredibly overwhelmed with requests to meet for coffee or lunch to “pick my brain”. In business, I have no problem turning down projects from complete strangers that don’t fit me or that I’m not excited about. If it’s not a HELL YES, it’s definitely a NO. But when it comes from friends or even acquaintances, I have a harder time saying no, because I want to help everyone!!! I’m a huge believer in paying in forward, but I can’t help anyone, if I don’t help myself first. My dear friend Mel sent me this podcast by Tim Ferris, called “How to say no”. It reminded me to set firmer boundaries with my time, because as a giver, I’m unable to do so if there’s nothing left to give. Check it out and let me know what you think. It’s only 20 minutes.

I’ve decided to make more of an effort to learn how to cook. I’m personally not very confident in the kitchen and honestly, I’m afraid of knives. Ha. But recently, I’ve found myself in the kitchen in the middle of the day cooking up a storm because string cheese and crackers is not a lunch. It’s quite therapeutic too. It gets my hands and mind off work and helps me focus on the meal I’m creating. There’s an actual completion of a task with cooking that I like and it makes me feel more productive. I recently made these turkey taco bites and it was sooo good. Also a good one for the SuperBowl watch party. Check it out here.

If we were on a virtual sweat date, I’d ASK you…

How are you doing? Not how’s work or what’s on your plate. But how are YOU? What are you doing to take care of yourself these days? And do you have any tips for not setting the house on fire while cooking? K thanks!

  1. I am so bummed that I am missing your golden birthday. I had so much fun on my 28 on the 28th a couple of years ago. Love everything you have done with Fitness Ambassadors and how beautiful the new site is!
